It Probably Always Will

Poetry & Lyrics

I've got a mountain of dreams to climb
'fore I get to that house on the hill
that keeps the lady of my morning
in a brown earthen pot on the sill
of the window that looks out
across the valley, probably always will

I'll make sure no one is watching me
like ev'ry good and successful thief
and maybe tomorrow when the sun goes down
I'll have put an end to this grief
by giving myself a potted plant
and a rainbow, calling it a wreath

she's the energy that runs my day
and the first star out at night
by God, I'm gonna climb that hill
if it takes, ev'ry bit of my my might

in the morning the early summer breezes call
me away from my warm sleeping bed
and fill me up with expectations
of filling this hole in my head
that was left long ago
somewhere in my lifetime, left me feeling dead

she's the energy that runs my day
and the first star out at night
by God, I'm gonna climb that hill
if it takes, ev'ry bit of my might

I've got a mountain of dreams to climb
'fore I get to that house on the hill
that keeps the lady of my morning
in a brown earthen pot on the sill
of the window that looks out
across the valley, probably always will

Well, a little off topic, but. . .

Broke my left arm last Saturday afternoon. Fell down the stairs. I stumbled and trying to protect my right shoulder (which I fractured on March 3rd) I ended up breaking my left elbow and fracturing the radial head.

We went to the emergency room Saturday night, I thought my wrist was broken, it was hurting more than my elbow but x-rays showed the problem to be in my elbow. The splinted it and we went back to the surgeon on Wednesday.

The surgeon removed the splint. He told me the elbow was much worse than the shoulder. I can't have a cast or splint because he says that what ever position they cast it in that's the position that it will freeze in.

Doing pretty good, can't do anything hardly witheither arm. I get occasional twinges in the shoulder and mostly a dull ache in the elbow.

Joyce is pretty wonderful! Her attitude varies from minor amusement to annoyed acceptance. With my arm in a splint and my shoulder immobilized she had to geve me sponge baths. The honeymoon is over, there are places she won't wash more than once or twice!

Yesterday and today I got to work my dog a little, so things are kinda back to normal on the herding front. I usually take Samson out twice a day and work on the goats. Me being out of commission is driving him crazy. He tries every thing to get me out of the house.

At the dog show coming up in April I had planned to enter 4 dogs, two of mine and two I'm training for others. Thank heavens I didn't send in my entry fees, it would have been almost $600 down the drain. I'm unable to get a novice dog prepared and definitely can't take a chance on being in a stampede!

Right now we're waiting for Nathan to come out, we've got eggs to color!

I'm sorry, Hank. I'm sure twinge and dull ache don't fully describe what you're going through. Do I understand that the broken elbow is just going to heal without being immobilized? OUCH! Probably pretty hard to see Samson's sad hopeful eyes too! Treat your nurse very nicely - you are at a disadvantage! Hard to believe you're typing! You are definitely a trooper. Anything I can do?

Oh my goodness Hank, you are a walking incarnation of Murphy's Law (or at least America's Funniest Home Videos) these days, aren't you? I am so sorry to hear about that!

Hope things start to look up soon!
